An elegant antique Victorian brass single by Hoskins & Sewell of Birmingham dating from circa 1890. Founded in 1850, Hoskins and Sewell were one of the 19th centuries most renowned brass bed makers, who provided beds for the titanic. This is a good quality all brass bed, a simple but elegant tubular brass design with curved top rails and stands on casters. Each corner is stamped with the Hoskins & Sewell logo, there is a badge on foot bar which reads “Patent H & S”. Also to the foot bar is the furnishers label of “Robb & son House Furnishers, Hexham”. It features a headboard, footboard and two side irons. Suitable for a large single mattress 107cm x 190cm. Does not come with mattress or base.
Measuring 107cm by 190cm, a wide single bed is the same length as a standard UK 3ft single bed, but 17cm wider, giving a slightly roomier sleep. These mattresses are available from some larger mattress suppliers as well as some online mattress suppliers.

Condition Report:
Good original patina to brass with good colour. Tarnishing and marks commensurate with age. Some of the small finials are crumpled to the back of the headboard. The front leg of the footboard is slightly bent inwards.
