A charming small antique William IV walnut fold over chess top table dating from circa 1835. Featuring a well-figured walnut and burr walnut banded top over a tapered column with turned collar, raised on a quatroform base on turned feet. The top lifts, swivels and turns over to reveal a beautifully inlaid chess board, with original blue paper lined compartment for storing chess pieces. In good condition with good colour and patina, this wonderful elegant table would make a great lamp table in a living room or hall, folding over for a game of chess when the occasion arises.
