A pair of handsome tall 1950s oak bookcases / office cabinets by Staverton and stamped E.R. These tall oak five shelf cabinets feature a rectangular top over five up and over sliding action doors, with vertical dividers all raised on plinth bases, stamped to the back crowned Government ER, Staverton, one dated 1956 the other 1959. These beautiful oak bookcases/cabinets were made by Staverton throughout the 50s and 60s for storing files in government offices. These are beautiful pieces of furniture of superb construction quality, currently very desirable and very functional when used as a large storage solution.
Founded in 1928, Staverton produce high quality office furniture which included commissions during the Second World War for the ministry of Defence. Staverton continued to manufacture furniture ranges for the Crown Suppliers which developed into contracts for Crown Court Buildings and London hotels.
Please note theses cabinets are very large and heavy and will require at least two people to move into place.

Condition Report:
Wear and marks commensurate with age. Some marks to the front right hand sides where a locking mechanism would have originally been. One cabinet is lacking the shelf dividers to the bottom two shelves.
