Product Description
A very good quality antique Victorian davenport desk in pollard and burr oak dating from circa 1870. It has a small raised gallery back above a hinged sloping fall front writing surface with tooled leather and moulded edge, which lifts to reveal a birds eye maple lined interior fitted with small drawers. The side has a small hinged drawer with pen slide and ink well above four working oak lined drawers and four dummy drawers on the opposite side. The drawers all have original brass Cope & Collinson locks and turned handles. This stunning antique desk has elegant pierced, carved and turned pilasters and scrolled supports and stands on turned bun feet with ceramic casters. The oak is in a golden shade with a striking grain with good patina and the piece is in good condition.
