A good quality, large antique late 19th century brass fender and spark guard circa 1870. It features a brass top rail supported by turned brass spindles, above a pierced brass base section raised on a cast iron moulding. Often known as a nursery guard as it is designed completely surround the fire. A highly decorative and good quality fender, in good original condition the brass with a lightly polished finish with good original patina.
